Wolf Creek actor John Jarratt, 66, charged with teen’s rape in 1970s

Wolf Creek actor John Jarratt has been forced to slam shock claims he raped a teenager in the 1970s after he was charged with the alleged historical assault.

Famed for portraying creepy lead character Mick Taylor in the 2005 horror, 66-year-old Jarratt has also enjoyed roles in popular Aussie TV shows including Play School, Better Homes and Gardens and McLeod’s Daughters.

He has reportedly been accused of assaulting a woman in a house in Sydney in September 1976. The Guardian reports the alleged victim was working at the Sydney Opera House at the time.

The woman reported the incident to police in December 2017, according to multiple reports. 

However, he’s since issued an angry statement denying the allegations. He insisted he’s a “good man” as he spoke to Nine News, and calling the accusations “ridiculous and untrue”, he added: “I’m fine because I’m innocent. I’m good, because I’m a good man.”

Jarratt has been married four times and is currently with spouse Rosa Jarratt – also his first wife. He has six children.

He was previously married to much-loved actress Noni Hazlehurst and appeared alongside her on Better Homes and Gardens in the mid-late 1990s. He left the show when they divorced, but she remained a host.

The actor made his screen debut on The Great Macarthy in 1975. The same year he appeared in Picnic at Hanging Rock.

The actor will now appear at Waverley local court on October 10.
