Suzanne Somers has thrown her support behind fellow actor Morgan Freeman amid sexual harassment claims, describing him as just a “big flirt”.

The 71-year-old spoke openly on Tuesday night about her close friend on American talk show The Ingraham Angle and the accusations put forward earlier this year by eight women.

First mentioning the Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby sexual assault allegations, the Three’s Company star, admitted her view of Freeman may not be “real popular”.

“But you know, like Morgan Freeman’s a big flirt. I know him really well. He sees you and he’ll like your dress and he’ll like your hair. He’ll like a lot of things,” she exclaimed.

Back in May, allegations that Freeman sexually harassed or made inappropriate marks to numerous women sent shock waves throughout the world, with fans of the popular actor in disbelief he could do such a thing.

Reports were made stating two women alleged the now 81-year-old Freeman, had touched them inappropriately, with one, a production assistant, claiming he even tried to lift her skirt.

A total of eight women said they had experienced harassment or inappropriate behaviour and a further eight said they had witnessed such conduct.

These accusations came during the development of the #MeToo campaign against sexual harassment which Somers also spoke of on the talk show.

“I hope the dance doesn’t stop. It’s seduction. It’s flirting,” she said. “All those things are really fun. So I hope there’s a way we can find a nice medium with that.”

As for Freeman, the star quickly apologised for his actions following the accusations in a statement published in a number reports.

“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy,” the actor said.

“I apologise to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected – that was never my intent.”

Following the initial report by CNN, Freeman’s lawyer demanded the news outlet retract its story, calling it a “year-long witch hunt” against the actor which has caused damage to his reputation.
