Karl Stefanovic has admitted he was left a “broken man” following the intense scrutiny and backlash over his marriage breakdown – and it almost pushed him to quit his TV role for good.
The Today show host’s marriage to ex wife Cassandra Thorburn ended after 21 years when they divorced in October 2016. He has since moved on with Jasmine Yarbrough, and they’re now planning their wedding later this year.
However, the huge interest in his turbulent love life came as a shock to the 43-year-old TV star, who has now questioned why anyone would want to know about his quiet home life in a rare tell-all interview with TV Tonight.
“It’s complete bulls**t. Why am I of interest? I’m the world’s most boring f**king man,” he told the publication.
While his marriage split made huge headlines, Stefanovic has also been caught up in an ‘Ubergate’ scandal, when a driver exposed a conversation he had with brother Peter – slamming his colleagues including Georgie Gardner.
Now, he’s revealed a series of situations which got media attention over the last two years made him “100 percent” consider leaving Today for good.
“I’ve been broken in the last two years, but you still have to come to work and do a breakfast show,” he added – while insisting if he was really bad, and had something to hide, it would have come out by now.

However, Stefanovic said he understands it comes with the job, and urged other stars and politicians not to complain about media attention – as it’s to be expected.
Meanwhile, it comes after a report in the Herald Sun at the weekend claimed the Today show host will marry his new partner Jasmine Yarbrough at celebrity hotspot Cabo in Mexico in December – just months after they hosted a stunning commitment ceremony for their closest friends and family.
While neither Stefanovic nor Yarbrough have publicly confirmed their wedding plans, they have begun showing off their relationship more in the public eye, and recently shared a loved up selfie together in matching outfits.
Writing alongside it, Stefanovic added: “Football on. Kids in bed. Double denim. Doesn’t get any better.”
According to the Herald Sun‘s report, the same 20 guests who attended the commitment ceremony are also thought to be on the short list for invites to the main ceremony.
