Jimmy Barnes, 62, is recovering after taking a stumble on stage

Jimmy Barnes is recovering after taking a tumble on stage at the Mt Isa Rodeo on Sunday night, The Courier Mail reports.

The Aussie legend, 62, reportedly suffered a deep cut and bruising on his thigh after falling through a gap in the stage. He had been headlining the rodeo’s musical entertainment when the incident occurred.

One concert-goer, Townsville’s Leanne Seaton was in the crowd and said she saw the singer fall mid-song. 

“He kept going as Barnsey does and finished the concert,” the fan told The Courier Mail.

“[It] looked pretty painful but he just kept moving around on it best he could while the band played on… he continued singing after a short pause and limped around for a bit but by the next song he seemed fine and back to himself.”

A spokeswoman for the singer confirmed the incident and said Jimmy would recover in time to walk the red carpet at the premiere of his movie Working Class Boy in Melbourne on Thursday night as planned.

Earlier this week, in a very frank interview with The Daily Telegraph, the singer opened up about his traumatic childhood.

The icon revealed he still blames his mum, Dorothy for failing to protect him and his five siblings from a horror upbringing at the hands of his alcoholic father. “The hardest thing about all of this, mum knew what was going on,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

And it’s not the first time the singer has opened up about his childhood — in his memoir titled Working Class Boy, he opened up about the abuse he was forced to see his mother suffer at the hands of his father.

Jimmy has previously admitted he attempted suicide in his hotel room in Auckland in 2012. In the prologue of his book Working Class Man, Jimmy revealed that he almost took his own life just five years ago. He wrote that he woke up in his large hotel suite — where he was staying with wife Jane Mahoney — not remembering that he tried to take his own life.
