Journalist and conservative stalwart Andrew Bolt has been attacked by protestors who threw glitter and sprayed him with a “sticky liquid” at a book launch in Melbourne.
Bolt labelled the attackers “Left-wing fascists” and shared footage of the incident on his Sky News program The Bolt Report.
The controversial reporter has never been one to back down from a verbal fight and it appears he lives by the same rules when it comes to a round of fisticuffs, throwing punches and kicking one of the attackers in the leg.
“Two masked protesters then jumped me, spraying me in the face and all over my suit with some sticky liquid with glitter and dye,” he said.
“Bad luck for them, of course, because I don’t do running and hiding.”
He said he left one with “a big bruise on the left side of his face and another bruise between his legs”.
“For which I apologise, I guess, but I don’t really fight nice if I’m pushed too far.”

Police are now investigating the incident.
Bolt has been at the centre of a number of media controversies in the past for his comments on ‘the Left’ and Indigenous Australians.
Last year he drew ire for an opinion piece published in the Herald Sun, in which he told Indigenous Australian to “stop blaming white racism for black poverty”.
While he has his critics, the attack on him has been labelled as “sick” and “cowardly”.
