From Mike Tyson’s life story and an Australian crime thriller to Hotel Portofino and Gogglebox, here’s what to stream during the week of 12 October.

There’s plenty to choose from for the week of 12 October, whether you’re in the mood for a tense Australian thriller, a true crime investigation or something you can watch with your feet up. Here are six shows to add to your list.

Netflix – Paid – TYSON

Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight boxing champion in history, but his life outside the ring has attracted as much attention as his fights. This four-part documentary traces his rise from a difficult childhood in Brooklyn to global fame, while examining the controversies and personal struggles that have shaped his reputation. Tyson, along with people close to him, reflects on the triumphs and decisions that made him one of sport’s most recognisable figures.

ABC iview – Free – Dustfall, Season 1

Detective Tig Pollard has returned to her hometown of North Gap when an investigation into a series of drink-spiking assaults takes a darker turn: a key suspect is found dead. As Tig searches for answers, the case draws her back towards secrets from her own adolescence. Anna Torv stars in this Australian psychological thriller, which begins on ABC TV on 11 October, with all episodes available to stream on iview.

SBS On Demand – Free – Hotel Portofino

For a change of scenery, head to the Italian Riviera in the 1920s, where Bella Ainsworth is trying to make a success of the hotel she has opened for wealthy British travellers. Bella has demanding guests, money worries and family tensions to manage, while the rise of Mussolini’s fascist movement brings trouble beyond the hotel doors. Natascha McElhone leads a cast that also includes Anna Chancellor in a drama that pairs beautiful surroundings with plenty of complications for the people living and working there.

BritBox – Paid – The Incident Room

If you’re drawn to the work behind a criminal investigation, this six-part true crime series follows British cases from the first inquiries through the leads and discoveries that helped police reach a conclusion. Interviews, archive material and reconstructions show how detectives approached the evidence, including the dead ends they encountered along the way.

Binge – Paid – My Lottery Dream Home, Season 18

What would you buy if you suddenly had the money for your dream home? Host David Bromstad helps lottery winners turn that question into a house hunt, weighing up everything from location and space to the features they’ve always wanted. Season 18 offers an easy watch for anyone who enjoys looking through other people’s homes and imagining how they’d spend a windfall.

10 Play – Free – Gogglebox, Season 24

Sometimes the most entertaining thing on television is watching someone else react to it. Australia’s Gogglebox households are back on the couch with their opinions on the week’s biggest shows, sharing the sort of running commentary many of us keep to ourselves. It’s a good choice when you want something familiar, funny and easy to dip into.
