Aussie budget airline Jetstar has increased its baggage fees, so you’ll want to be extra careful when booking your flights from hereon.

The airline told Travel at 60 it has reviewed the fees it charges customers who want to travel with bags but haven’t pre-purchased baggage before arriving at the airport.

“We have significantly reduced the fees for international and Trans-Tasman flights and will increase the fee slightly for domestic flights,” a Jetstar spokesperson told Travel at 60.

“This won’t affect most of our customers as the majority tend to pre-book baggage when they book their flight on Jetstar.com.”

If you have a penchant for taking only carry-on luggage on your flight, if you change your mind and want to bring a suitcase along, it’ll cost you $60 for 15kg, and then $15 for every kilogram after that. So, if you decide to bring a 25kg suitcase with you, it’ll cost you an extra $210 at check-in.

Tigerair have even pricier check-in luggage fees, setting travellers back $75 for flights under one hour and 45 minutes for a 15kg suitcase and $90 for flights longer than this. For 20kg, prices rise to $85 and $100 respectively and every kilogram over 20kg of luggage is $20 per kilogram for short flights and $25 per kilogram for longer flights.
