New video gives sneak peek on board Virgin’s new ‘adult only’ cruise ship

Aug 27, 2018

Cruises are built for those who want to escape their world for a moment as they sail along the high seas. A vital part of this for so many cruise goers is being able to zone out and relax in a stress-free environment.

However that can be quite difficult to achieve when you’re stuck with a group of screaming children who just don’t seem to understand the concept of peace and quiet.

But, not to worry, billionaire businessman Richard Branson has come to the rescue, and come up with a way to make sure travellers can truly relax on his brand new cruise ship by banning any travellers under the age of 18.

Now a brand new video, released on Facebook over the weekend, has revealed what passengers can expect when the ship sets sail, showing off the luxurious B-Complex of The Scarlet Lady.

Showing off the luxurious gym that passengers can hope to enjoy, the 30-second clip reveals endless exercise space, where guests will be able to enjoy fully inclusive workout classes.

Virgin Voyages is the newest company to stem from Branson’s incredibly successful Virgin brand and they’re coming with big plans to conquer the cruise industry.

Construction on the first ship began last year and Virgin Voyages said in a statement that the ship is “a place where you, your friends or your significant other can have the best possible experience, sans the unpredictability of kids”.

But what does that mean? Well, the new cruise company categorises their experiences as “Adult by Design”, meaning you aren’t allowed to sail with the company if you are under the age of 18. In a move that the cruise community has never seen before, they don’t plan to deliver any family friendly cruises now or in the future.

While this bold choice could potentially lose a substantial profit for the company by cutting out families – who are one of the major contributors to overall cruise revenue – it seems they are already confident in their success.

Virgin Voyages released an early access pre-sale to book on the ship but were forced to close it due to an overwhelming public demand.

The ship has been officially named The Scarlet Lady and will set sail some time in 2020. In true Branson style, there was no cost spared for the expert design team to achieve the level of prestige they were searching for.

The ship boasts all-inclusive fitness classes along with an outdoor athletic club and indoor gym, a private outdoor lounge, two main restaurants, a thermal spa and a communal relaxation area.

The Scarlet Lady will be sailing from Virgin Voyages home port in Miami and heading to several exotic locations in the Caribbean for its maiden voyage.

As Virgin Voyages continues to build its first ever cruise, it only adds to the growing pool of industries that Richard Branson has dipped his toe into. The self-made billionaire has shown expertise through his well-known brands such as Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Galactic and Virgin Records.

Now, with his cruise company, Branson’s plans for adult-only cruises will definitely be a game-changer in the cruise industry.
