Start saving, travellers, because a swanky new hotel is set to open in an iconic London building and it’s sure to cost a pretty penny.
Anyone who has travelled to London will be familiar with Admiralty Arch. It’s a Neoclassical building that was originally commission by King Edward VII in homage to his mother, Queen Victoria.
Completed in 1911, not long after King Edward VII died, the arch has had many uses over the years. It was originally used as a residential building for the Royal Navy, then as a homeless hostel and finally as government offices.
But new life is about to be injected into this building’s old walls as in 2022 it will become the Admiralty Arch Waldorf Astoria London.
Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts is known to be one of the most prestigious luxury hotels in the world and part of the Hilton portfolio.
The flagship hotel was launched in 2006 in New York and as part of Hilton’s new luxury brand called the Waldorf Astoria Collection.
Currently there are hotels throughout United States, Italy, France, the Netherlands, China, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Scotland, Saudi Arabia and Panama.
Hilton representative, Christopher J. Nassetta, says acquiring the Admiralty Arch allows the company to continue to preserve historically significant buildings and return them to a state of glory.
