Love ABBA? Loved Mamma Mia! (the musical and the film)? Loved this year’s movie sequel? Love a fun night out? Love London and going to be there next year? Then you’re going to want to sign up for MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY, which is set to open at The O2 in late spring (that’s our autumn), 2019.

Executive producer (and ABBA legend) Björn Ulvaeus and producer Ingrid Sutej have just announced the event, which all stemmed from a question Björn asked himself as he watched people having a great time at Mamma Mia! The Musical – “What if this could continue somewhere else?”

That “somewhere else” turned out to be a recreated Greek taverna “on the island of Skopelos” (actually, a location in Stockholm). The MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY experience kicked off in the Swedish capital in January 2016 and has enjoyed three consecutive years of sold-out shows ever since.

And now, the party is coming to London.

It’s billed as an “immersive theatrical and dining experience” which, translated, means that you’ll enjoy dinner in a specially adapted venue within The O2 that will transport you to Greece – to that same Greek taverna on Skopelos, to be exact.

Sitting around long tables in the courtyard – complete with a fountain, olive trees and bougainvillea – you’ll meet the owner, Nikos and his family, and enjoy Greek cuisine while a live immersive show plays out in front of you, full of all your favourite ABBA songs, so you can sing along and prove you are the Dancing Queen (or King).
