‘You deserve all the best’: Fans rally behind Rod Stewart following major career announcement

Rod Stewart’s fans are showing their unwavering support after the legendary rocker revealed he’s stepping away from “large-scale” tours, with many expressing admiration for his decision to embrace a new chapter of smaller, more intimate shows.

Stewart took to Instagram to share his career update, announcing that while he has “no desire to retire,” he plans to step away from the bigger tours in favour of performing at “smaller venues.”

“This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire,” he wrote.

“I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.

“I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy. But then again, I may not…”

While fans will no longer see Stewart performing the “large scale” shows he has become known for, many were supportive of his decision to slow down.

“You do you Rod – you have been entertaining us for decades – you deserve all the best things in life,” one wrote.

“Love you always I love your music forever and ever. You are the rock legend, the best. If you love what you do, don’t stop doing it.”

“Do whatever suits you Rod, only you know your limits. You will always be the best,” commented another.

Stewart has for some time hinted that he would be taking a break from “rock ‘n’ roll touring”, revealing in 2022 that he wanted “to do something new”.

The 79-year-old made the bombshell revelation during an interview with the Daily Record where he announced that although he wants to move away from touring he is not planning on retiring altogether anytime soon.

“Next year will be the end of my rock ‘n’ roll touring. I want to do something different. It feels like an end of an era,” he said.

“All things must come to an end.

“I’m not retiring and I still love singing, I just want to do something new. I might do a few folk clubs playing guitar. Just be different.”

Stewart opened up about how performing in the “big tours” had lost its appeal as it keeps him away from his children.

“I don’t want to do the big tours any more, especially in America. It takes me away from my kids for so long,” he said.
