I’d been umming and arring about whether to invest in a proper sofa bed for a while. Did the spend justify the move from the old blow-up bed on the floor?
I’m a single lady, 61 years young and sleep on a king size bed with a lovely pillow-top mattress, but when I have guests, I feel the right thing to do is let them have my bedroom and relegate myself to the office and the air mattress on the floor. This has ended badly a couple of times, usually with me suffering a stiff back after spending most of the night shuffling around trying to find the spot where it hadn’t deflated.
But, did I really want a bulky, heavy couch with springs and folding mechanisms? Nope.
Flicking through the usual furniture store sites, an advertisement from Eva caught my attention, 97 percent of customers were leaving glowing five-star reviews. The colours available were certainly enticing, the pricing was good and I liked that the timber was sustainably sourced. So I took the plunge and ordered the Eva sofa lounge in a lovely moss green classic weave.
Assembly:

Delivery was swift, but when I saw the truck doors open, my heart sank. Cardboard boxes. Some quite large. I hate flat-packs. The large boxes were too heavy for one person to manage, so I decided to “get a man” to assemble it. There’s plenty of companies offering to help build things and I even found a guy who’d put together the Eva Slideaway Sofa Bed twice before.
The assembly itself turned out to be incredibly easy. In hindsight, a friend and I could’ve easily managed by following the instructional video on the website. Everything was clearly labelled, the bolts that hold it in place don’t require a special tool and the two large pieces simply slid together.
Versatility and Customisation:

Another feature that drew me to the stylish Eva Slideaway Sofa Bed is its versatility when it comes to cushion covers. The covers are not only removable and washable, making it easy to keep the sofa bed fresh and clean, but they are also replaceable. With a wide range of colours and different weaves, updating the look is simple and hassle-free.
Design and Aesthetic Appeal:

The Eva Slideaway Sofa Bed stands out for its stunning appearance. I particular love it in the moss green colour – it has a very japandi elegance to it – very sleek, modern and makes a stylish addition to my home. The timber frame is crafted from American Ash and a plywood veneer. The cushions are up-cycled multi-layers of memory foam and polyester, and the covers are made from a 100 percent polyester fibre, providing durability and comfort. It comes with a five-year limited structural warranty on the frame and a five-year fabric warranty.
To switch from daybed mode to sofa-bed mode takes seconds, simply slide out the extension and re-arrange the cushions. I found the cushions quite firm to begin with, but now with some use they have started to settle in and sleeping overnight on the Eva was comfortable, supportive and spacious. If you live in Melbourne or Sydney you can pop into their showroom and have a test run before you buy.
What do I love about the Eva Slideaway Sofa Bed?
That’s easy – everything! This piece of furniture is designed to last and oozes quality. It’s a statement piece, and would I recommend it to friends ? – Yes, definitely.
Did the spend ($2550) justify giving up the air mattress – 100 percent.
