There’s a good chance you have never witnessed a snake duel before — until now that is, as a fearless woman has captured the epic moment a snake and lizard battled it out.
Raegan Zacher, who is from Bunbury in Western Australia, got quite the surprise while driving on a Bremer Bay road when she spotted a lizard and snake duelling it out.
She was lucky enough to catch the action, posting on her own Facebook page. “I’ve seen some pretty amazing things in Bremer, but my trip into town yesterday was definitely a highlight… snake vs lizard,” she captioned the post.
In the video, at one point, the snake appears to be chasing the lizard, but in the end, the lizard can be seen dragging the snake’s body across the road.
Many people have commented on the post, describing the video as “amazing” and “fascinating”.
“That was exhilarating to watch,” one commentator wrote. “If you’d asked me before hand who would come out on top I’d have thought the snake!”
Another added: “Wow nature at its best. You’re lucky to have seen this. Great filming mate.”
And a third wrote: “Wow. That’s awesome. What a battle.”

It comes after a Brisbane family got the fright of their life after a pair of coastal carpet pythons fell through a vent in the roof and into the bedroom of their suburban Brisbane home.
Video has captured two 1.75-metre snakes locked in a combat battle. Shared on the Snake Catchers Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan and Gold Coast Facebook page, the two snakes could be seen wrestling with each other inside the bedroom of a home.
“So we have our first pair of combat males for the season,” a woman could be heard saying in the video. “These are in Kenmore Hills in the Western suburbs of Brisbane.”
While it almost looked as though the two snakes were attempting to mate, the snake catcher in the video confirmed they were actually two males who were fighting with each other.
Because snake breeding season has begun, there is an increased risk residents will see a snake or two in their homes, backyards, schools and other urban areas as they search for a mate. In the event of a snake sighting, it’s always best to contact a snake catcher so it can be safely relocated. Trying to capture it yourself can increase the risk of danger not only for you, but for the snake.
