A US mum is making international headlines after she revealed in a now-viral TikTok video that her second child weighed a whopping 6.5 kilograms at birth. Just to put things in perspective, according to BabyCenter Australia, by 40 weeks, the average baby weighs 3.5kg, and is about 51.2cm long from head to heel.

The mum who goes by the username @shans1588 on the new teen app, decided to share her story after a fellow TikTok user put a call out for people to share their big baby stories.

“Oh you want to play the biggest baby?” she replied in her video, which has since been viewed more than 29 million times. “I got you.”

The mum went on to explain that two doctors were required during her son’s C-section birth due to his large size. A picture of her son at birth can be seen in the background of the video as she talks to the camera.

“At 38 weeks and one day, I had my second son via C-section with two doctors assisting because he came in at a whopping 14 pounds, point six ounces,” she said, revealing he was also almost 60cm long.

“That’s right. I gave birth to a toddler, who then spent 11 days in the NICU where clearly, he was the biggest baby in there.

“The NICU didn’t even have diapers for him or clothes. They had to go upstairs to paediatrics and get size three diapers and he came home in clothing, sized six to nine months.”

Her video drew a slew of funny comments from users, with one jokingly writing: “He came out a grown man.” Another quipped: “He drove home from the hospital.” While a third said their three-month-old baby isn’t even close to that size yet. Another commented: “That’s definitely a toddler.”

The big bub, who is now five years old, is apparently doing just fine, as the mother uploaded a second video, this time a montage of the not-so-little tot’s life.

“Our 14 1b .6oz baby boy. J is a healthy, stubborn and STRONG 5 year old who loves baseball, football and Monster Trucks,” she captioned the video.
