Tributes from colleagues, friends and family have poured in after the sudden passing of Friends star Matthew Perry on Saturday.

According to TMZ, Perry was found unresponsive in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home, dead from an apparent drowning. So far, police have not suspected any foul play.

His sudden passing has come as a shock to many. Perry had previously suffered from health issues related to his addiction but had remained committed to sobriety since first entering rehabilitation in 2002.

At the time of his death, he was believed to be in good health and no drugs were discovered at the scene of his death. Since the announcement of his death, Perry’s loved ones have paid tribute to him and his impact on their their lives, as well as his impact on the lives of people across the world.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend,” his family said in a statement to PEOPLE.

“You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love,” they added, speaking to Perry’s many fans who have already expressed their condolences at his passing.

Maggie Wheeler, who co-starred with Perry in Friends as Chandler’s on again/off again, took to Instagram to express her grief.

“What a loss. The world will miss you Mathew Perry . The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared,” Wheeler wrote.

Morgan Fairchild, who starred as Chandler’s mother on Friends, said his death was a shock.

“I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my “son”, Matthew Perry,” Fairchild wrote.

“The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock. I’m sending love & condolences to his friends & family, especially his dad, John Bennett Perry, who I worked with on Flamingo Road & Falcon Crest,” she added.

Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister and Perry’s former classmate, also expressed his condolences.

“Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening. I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them. Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed,” he wrote.

Perry once admitted to “beating up” Trudeau in primary school, although the incident was recalled mostly in jest by both Perry and Trudeau.

Paget Brewster, who played Chandler’s girlfriend Kathy in Friends, urged people to honour his legacy by reading his memoir, in which he was open about his addiction issues.

“I’m so very sad to hear about. He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades after. Please read his book. It was his legacy to help. He won’t rest in peace though.. He’s already too busy making everyone laugh up there,” she wrote.
