Susan Sarandon, Aussie actress fight ruling on their new film

Susan Sarandon has hit out over the R rating put on her new film 3 Generations.

We’re all familiar with the ratings put on TV shows and movies, and while for the most part people agree with them, sometimes they cause controversy.

This time the controversy around movie ratings is focused on Susan Sarandon’s new movie.

The film 3 Generations stars Sarandon as a lesbian grandmother who is struggling to accept her granddaughter wanting to get a sex change.

It also stars Aussie actress Naomi Watts as Sarandon’s daughter.

So, what is all the controversy?

Well, the movie has been given an R rating by the Motion Picture Association of America – and the actresses aren’t happy about it!

They’ve released a statement about the rating, describing it as “ridiculous” and claiming it “doesn’t reflect today’s society”.

“3 Generations is an important movie for everyone to see, especially transgender youth who are feeling isolated or fearful and their families,” Sarandon said, according to TV3 Expose.

“It’s ridiculous to have an R rating which would prevent this audience from seeing the film.”

Meanwhile, Watts said the movie “doesn’t have a bad bone in its body”.

“This film is a beautiful and touching story about family and identity. It is important for teenagers to see it and the ‘R’ Rating doesn’t reflect today’s society,” she said.

“It’s an expression of love, acceptance, strength, and honesty, values that could not be more necessary right now.”

The company behind the film, Weinstein, are fighting to have the rating changed before the movie is released in the US next month.

Do you agree with Susan and Naomi? Should the film’s rating be changed?
