Sonia Kruger has revealed her upcoming roles with Channel 7 following her sudden farewell from the Today show just over a week ago as part of the program’s massive shake-up of presenters.
The 54-year-old announced her departure from the Nine network while live on air, admitting while she’d thoroughly enjoyed her time with the morning show, it was time to do something new.
Now just days later, Sonia has shared details on what those new adventures will entail – and she’s in for a busy time, with plenty of exciting opportunities on the cards.
Speaking exclusively to The Daily Telegraph, the presenter said she’s beyond excited to host as part of the Olympics in Tokyo, as well as a series of programs with Channel 7.
And it looks like Sonia will be sticking with Seven for some time, with Seven West Media Chief Executive James Warburton confirming to the publication that she has signed a “multi-year deal”.
Warburton told The Daily Telegraph Sonia will take over from chef Manu Feildel as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent and will be the host of new show Mega Mini Golf.
Just over a week ago Sonia broke the sad news about her departure from the Today show.
The presenter, who also worked on major Nine shows including Big Brother and The Voice, broke the news during Thursday morning’s show as she told viewers: “After eight fabulous years I’m leaving the show and the Nine Network. I have had an amazing time here. I’ve been very privileged to work on some top shelf programs and, of course, with you David.

“But it’s time for me to go and do something new … Tomorrow is going to be my last day on the show and as a thank you to you at home for having me in your living room every day, we are putting together something special to celebrate. They’ll be laughs, there better be tears. If there are no tears I will be very upset.”
In the same week sports presenter Tony Jones also revealed he was leaving the Today show during an interview with the Herald Sun.
“It’s certainly been a wild ride over the past year, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time working on the Today show,” he told the publication.
“However, I came to the conclusion several months ago that juggling those commitments, together with Nine News, Sunday Footy Show and 3AW, was not sustainable. Something had to give.”
