Son of Aussie rocker Angry Anderson ‘killed in violent assault’: Reports

The son of legendary Aussie rocker Gary ‘Angry’ Anderson is believed to have been killed in a violent assault in Sydney in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to Pavilion Reserve in Queenscliff just after 6am on Sunday, following reports of an assault. Officers arrived to find a man, believed to be in his 20s, unconscious having suffered serious head injuries.

While police have not confirmed the victim’s identity, reports in the Sydney Morning Herald claim that the man is Liam Anderson, the son of Rose Tattoo singer Angry Anderson.

The victim passed away on his way to hospital while a 20-year-old man is also said to have been arrested at the scene, believed to be the alleged attacker, and is assisting with enquiries at Manly Police Station.

“It was quite a bloody scene,” Detective Inspector Michael Boutouridis told the newspaper. “The man we have in custody was violent and it took a number of police officers to subdue and arrest him.

“Capsicum spray was used, OC spray, and significant force was used to arrest him.”

Fans of Anderson’s took to social media to offer their thoughts following the tragic news. One wrote: “My heart goes out to Anderson & his family, I can’t fathom what they are going thru after this tragic news.” (sic)

Another said: “Terrible. Condolences to the Anderson family, and their loved ones.”

Police believe that the attack was targeted and the men were known to one another.

Anderson, 71, who is a prominent youth advocate, and his family attached a handwritten note to their wheelie bin this morning, asking the media to respect their privacy. It read: “Please respect out privacy. We will not be answering any media questions. Thank you for your understanding.”
