Sib Hashian, the drummer for the rock band Boston, has died after collapsing during a performance.

The drummer’s son, Adam, said Hashian was in the middle of a set on stage aboard the Legends of Rock Cruise when he collapsed on Wednesday and died.

Long-time collaborator and fellow ex-Boston player Barry Goudreau was performing with Hashian at the time of his death.

“It’s with a very heavy heart that I have to announce that my musical partner of 50 years, Sib Hashian, collapsed during out set on the Rock Legends Cruise last night,” Goudreau wrote in a statement.

“Despite efforts to revive him, he did not survive.

“Sib was [one] in a million, never to be replaced. He will be greatly missed.”

Bystanders attempted CPR on the drummer, and a defibrillator was used, but he could not be revived.

He was 67 years old.

Hashian played drums for Boston, the band behind the chart-topping 70s hits More Than a Feeling and Don’t Look Back.

The original band, made up of Tom Scholz, Brad Delp, Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan and Hashian, had one of the most successful debut records in history, selling over 17 million copies, with the singles Long Time and Peace of Mind.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, whose long-time partner, Lauren Hashian, is Sib’s daughter, penned a tribute.

“What an amazing family he created, loved, watched over and protected,” Johnson wrote.

“Being on stage, in front of adoring fans, friends and family. Keeping the beat one last time. Your passing in this manner is extremely poetic and somehow beautiful.”

The Legends of Rock Cruise took off from Miami on March 18 with stops planned in St. Maarten, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas before it was scheduled to return to Miami on March 25, according to the cruise’s website.

His wife, Suzanne Hashian, issued a statement saying arrangements would be made at a later date.
