Nicole Kidman ‘hanging in there’ following the loss of her beloved mother

Beloved Australian actress Nicole Kidman has revealed that she is “hanging in there” following her mother’s recent passing.

Kidman learned of her mother’s death while attending the Venice Film Festival in Italy, where she was promoting her new movie Babygirl. The tragic news forced her to miss the event.

In a statement read out by Babygirl director Halina Reijn, Kidman shared that she was “heart is broken”.

“Today I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed,” Kidman said at the time.

“I am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, she guided me, and she made me.

“I am beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heart-breaking, and my heart is broken.

“We love you all.”

Now, during a recent premiere of Lioness season two, Kidman reflected on her grief, explaining that it has been “a hard road” since her mother’s passing but that she is “hanging in there”.

“I wish my mama was here,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

“That’d be the one thing I’d say. Everything is great with work but I wish my mama was here.”

Following her mother’s death, Kidman was overwhelmed with an outpouring of “love and kindness” from fans. She took to social media to express her heartfelt gratitude for the support alongside three photos of her late mother: one solo portrait and two with Kidman and her sister, Antonia.

“My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week,” she began.

“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express. Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other.”
