Fans have marvelled at how “amazing” Aussie singing icon John Farnham looks during a rare public appearance alongside his family.
Public appearances by the You’re the Voice hitmaker have been few and far between after he underwent surgery and treatment for mouth cancer in August 2022. Following multiple surgeries, eight weeks of radiation therapy, and overcoming several challenges, John received the “all-clear” from doctors in July 2023 and was declared cancer-free.
Recently, John was spotted celebrating his wife Jill’s 70th birthday at a Melbourne restaurant. His son, Robert, shared a heartwarming group photo of John surrounded by family, capturing the joy of the special occasion.
“Happy birthday 70th to mum! Love u x,” Rob wrote alongside the image.
As the Farnham family came together to celebrate Jill’s birthday, fans flooded the post with heartfelt wishes for John, praising how “amazing” he looks.
“Happy Birthday Jill so happy for you to be all together John is looking fabulous thank you for sharing love to you all,” one wrote.
“Happy birthday to your mum! Good to see your old man looking as well as he might feel. ❤️ (keep staying well john we love you ❤️).”
“Happy 70th Birthday to your beautiful Mum Jill and by the way John looks amazing please give him my love and a big hug,” commented another.
“Wonderful family photo 👏👏❤️ well done family, being such a support for this very special man. All Australians think of John Farnham as our friend, as if we all know him. He is much loved by his audience. May your dad go from strength to strength.”
The rare glimpse comes after John’s other son James shared an uplifting update on the legendary singer’s health and well-being during a recent appearance on Sunrise.
“He’s doing great, he’s doing really well, walking around, kicking goals, annoying mum,” James revealed.
James also shared that his father has landed on what he wants his first grandchild to call him, revealing he has gone with “Pa”.
James, recently announced that he and his partner, Tessa Effendi, are expecting a baby boy. James shared the happy news on Instagram recently with a short video, in which he lights a cake that burns away to reveal the message, “Boy”.
“We’re all really excited, another little Farnham on the way,” James said.
“I can’t wait to take him up to the farm and get dad to teach him everything he taught me.”
