Joe Hildebrand has confirmed a new job is on the horizon just days after his shock departure from morning show Studio 10.
Speaking to Confidential on Wednesday the journalist revealed he’ll be joining Sydney radio station 2GB as a presenter. While the exact details of his role are yet to be confirmed Confidential believes he will initially join John Stanley on Thursday nights from 8pm to 9pm.
“I am absolutely wrapped to be going back to radio,” he told the publication. “I can’t think of any better place to be than 2GB. I’ve got a strong feeling that a lot of my old audience from Studio 10 are also the kind of people who listen to GB.”
Hildebrand continued: “These are battlers from the suburbs, people who live in the real world, who like straight talk and big laughs and I can’t wait to reconnect with them.”
The news comes just one week after the popular journalist announced his resignation from the Channel Ten morning show. Addressing the audience at the time, Hildebrand revealed he had some news, saying: “I wanted to say it here first before you saw it or heard it anywhere else.”
“I am leaving Studio 10,” Hildebrand continued. “I have given it a huge amount of thought. It’s been really hard, but also really lovely to be able to look back on all the wonderful things we have done.
“We all know the show is getting a bit of a shake-up. Channel 10 and my lovely bosses asked me if I’d stay on in a new role. We talked about it really openly and warmly about what that might look like, and they were really keen. So don’t lash out at them.
“But I just thought it’s probably just better to draw a line under this amazing little story that I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of and give the new show – whatever it may look like – a chance to breathe and have a fresh start without me hanging around.”

Many viewers took to social media at the time to express their sadness at the news of Joe’s departure, with one writing: “True class @Joe_Hildebrand. You have always been a man of integrity and honour and your sign off shows that in spades. Best wishes for your future projects and I look forward to continuing to agree/disagree with you on Tweeter.”
Another said: “That was a lovely speech, Joe. Very touching to see how much you’re loved by your coworkers.” While another commented: “I love watching this show because of you Joe. Because you tell it how it is.”
