Iconic voice behind ‘Hungry Eyes’, Eric Carmen, passes away at 74

Eric Carmen, the beloved vocalist behind the widely adored ballad Hungry Eyes, has sadly passed away at the age of 74.

The esteemed singer-songwriter, whose soul-stirring vocals and heartfelt lyrics have resonated with audiences across generations, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 11.

His wife, Amy, conveyed the sorrowful news through the singer’s official website.

“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen,” she wrote.

“Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend.

“It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy.

“Please respect the family’s privacy as we mourn our enormous loss.

“Love Is All That Matters…Faithful and Forever”

As news of his departure reverberated through the industry, fans fondly remembered Carmen’s contributions to the soundtrack of their lives, forever cherishing his timeless legacy.

“80s banger — RIP,” one fan wrote.

Carmen enjoyed a diverse and successful career in the music industry. As a founding member of the power pop band, The Raspberries, known for hits like Go All the Way and Overnight Sensation, the band’s influence on power pop music was significant.

He achieved widespread recognition as a solo artist with his self-titled debut album, All by Myself (famously covered by Celine Dion) which reached the top of the charts and solidified his solo career.

Hungry Eyes, his contribution to the soundtrack of the classic 80s movie, Dirty Dancing, earned him widespread acclaim and won him several awards.

Another massive hit was the successful 1988 single, Make Me Lose Control, which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
