A âheartbrokenâ Celine Dion has joined those mourning the legendary music producer Quincy Jones, delivering a moving tribute to âthe one and only musical geniusâ.
Jones sadly passed away on Sunday, November 3 at his Bel Air home in Los Angeles, surrounded by his family.
Jonesâ family issued a statement following his passing in which they reflected on âthe great life that he livedâ despite their âbroken heartsâ.
Equally devastated by Jonesâ passing was Dion who took to social media to pay tribute to her friend and âcherished mentorâ while reflecting on their time spent together.
âI am heartbroken to learn of the passing of my friend, the one and only musical genius, Quincy Jones. Quincy touched my world as both a cherished mentor and as also as someone I looked up to for his deep impact on virtually every form of American music,â she began.
âI was privileged to work with Quincy, it was a dream come true. In our sessions, his musical intuition was nothing short of profound â he helped me capture âa little piece of heaven.â Quincy always knew exactly what each song needed.
âIn addition to his kindness and countless achievements, I also admired him for his philanthropic work which benefited the arts, global famine and underprivileged youth. His reach truly extends to all corners of the globe!
âQuincy once said, âMusic is the soul of the universe. It connects us all on a level that words alone cannot reach.â May his wisdom and joy remain with us always.â

Dionâs tribute joined a wave of admiration from thousands who honoured Jonesâ remarkable career and lasting impact on music.
Known for a legacy of unparalleled achievements, Jonesâ crowning moment came as the producer of Michael Jacksonâs albums Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad in the 1980s, which helped make the singer the biggest pop star of all time.
Jones also worked with jazz greats such as Miles Davis, produced Frank Sinatra, and put together the superstar ensemble that recorded the 1985 fund-raiser We Are the World.
Jones also contributed his talents to film scores such as The Color Purple and the 1990s television show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
For his outstanding achievements in the music industry, Jones was recognised with a Grammy Legend award in 1992 for his âongoing contributions and influence in the recording field.â
