Hey Dad! star Robert Hughes loses another appeal

Former Hey Dad! star Robert Hughes today lost his High Court fight against child sex convictions.

The 68-year-old has been in jail since 2014 when he was found guilty on 10 sexual and indecent assault charges over offences to four female victims in the 1980s.

Hughes was not found guilty of an 11th charge but was sentenced to at least six years in prison.

The girls were between seven and 15 years old at the time of the offences, which were committed between 1985 and 1990.

ABC News reported a key part of the case against Hughes were suggestions that he had a tendency to engage opportunistically in sexual activities with young girls.

The accused argued that each accusation against him was too different to be regarded as a tendency under law but in a four to three ruling, the High Court supported the evidence used in the conviction.

This is not the first time Hughes has tried to appeal to the court — in 2015, he tried to appeal his conviction for seven counts of indecent assault, two counts of sexual assault and one count of assault with an act of indecency.

At the time, he tried to argue that he didn’t receive a fair trial due to “poisonous vilification” by the public on social media.

The court rejected the argument that Hughes had suffered a miscarriage of justice.

Do you think he should be given a longer sentence?
