Fans shocked as Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness announce separation

In a move that has shocked fans, beloved Hollywood couple, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, have announced their separation after 27 years of marriage.

The couple, who first met on the set of the Australian television series Correlli in 1995, have long been an enduring symbol of love and stability in the entertainment industry, bucking the stereotypical trend of short-lived Hollywood marriages.

However, it would seem their union was not to be after the couple released a joint statement to People magazine announcing their separation.

“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” the statement read.

“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.

“This is the sole statement either of us will make.”

The separation stunned fans, many filling social media with messages of bewilderment while trying to process the surprising news.

Given the couple’s history of openly expressing their deep love for each other on social media, it’s hardly a surprise that fans are taken aback by this unexpected announcement.

When Jackman and Furness recently celebrated their incredible 27-year wedding anniversary, The Greatest Showman star took to Instagram to share a loved-up snap of the pair alongside a touching tribute.

“I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!! I love you so much,” he wrote.

“Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.”

During a previous interview with TODAY, Jackman revealed that he felt an instant attraction to Furness, explaining that he “knew two weeks into meeting Deb that we were going to be together for the rest of our lives”.
