Cindy Crawford’s only son Presley Gerber dies aged 27

Cindy Crawford’s only son, Presley Gerber, has died aged 27, just weeks after his younger sister Kaia spoke publicly about the addiction battle that had affected their family for years.

Gerber died at a rehabilitation facility, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. A cause of death has not been determined and an autopsy is yet to be completed.

A representative for Crawford, her husband Rande Gerber and daughter Kaia confirmed the death, saying the family was asking for privacy during a “very difficult and painful time”.

Presley was the eldest of Crawford and Rande Gerber’s two children and, like his famous mother and sister, built a career in modelling.

Following his mother onto the runway

Born in 1999, Presley was still a teenager when he began attracting attention in the fashion industry. He made his runway debut for Moschino and went on to work with some of fashion’s biggest names, including Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein.

But behind the high-profile family photographs and modelling campaigns, Presley had faced significant personal struggles. He had spoken publicly about his mental health and substance use, including depression and panic attacks, and used social media to discuss his experiences in the hope of helping others.

Only last month, Kaia spoke candidly about her brother’s long battle with addiction and its effect on the Gerber family.

“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she told Vogue.

Kaia said she had come to see her brother’s willingness to speak openly about his experiences as an act of courage, describing herself as “deeply proud of him”.

A famous family facing private grief

Crawford, now 60, married businessman and former model Rande Gerber in 1998. Presley was born the following year, with Kaia arriving in 2001.

Both children would eventually follow their mother into fashion, making the Gerbers one of the industry’s most recognisable families.

For Crawford, however, her children always came before the fame.

“The greatest thing about having kids is you just… instantly know your priorities,” she previously said. “You know it’s always family first.”

The circumstances surrounding Presley’s death remain under investigation, with authorities yet to announce an official cause.
