Simply the best! Tina Turner is ‘happy to be 80’ on milestone birthday

Singing legend Tina Turner is not letting her age get her down as she celebrates her 80th birthday full of confidence and joy.

Taking to social media this week, the ‘I can’t stand the rain’ star said she’s happy to be an 80-year-old woman and is looking and feeling great. Showing off her bold personality in a video shared on Twitter, Tina explained to her fans how grateful she is to be alive and well after a long battle with her health.

“Yes, I’m 80,” she said. “How did I think I would be at 80? Not like this.”

“How is this?” she said with a laugh while pointing at herself. “Well, I look great, I feel good, I’ve gone through some very serious sicknesses that I’m overcoming. So it’s like having a second chance at life. I’m happy to be an 80-year-old woman.”

While Tina is a healthy and happy 80-year-old, not long ago she was battling with numerous health conditions. According to People, in her book My Love Story, the singer said she suffered a stroke in 2013 and three years later was diagnosed with intestinal cancer.

Her health continued to decline and she faced kidney failure. Thankfully, her husband Erwin Bach saved her life by donating a kidney in 2017.

Tina’s not the only one thankful that her life has turned around with many of her friends sending their best wishes on her birthday.

In a video montage, also shared on Tina’s Twitter page, fellow stars including Ringo Starr, Pete Townshend and Ronnie Wood expressed their love for the singer.

“Tina is incredible!” Ringo said. “Happy Birthday Tina Turner. Peace and love.”

“I love you, I’ve always loved you,” Pete Townshend said.

“Tina, Happy Birthday from me your Ronnie. I love you,” Ronnie added.

Meanwhile, Cher posted as beautiful message to Tina on her own Twitter account.

“Happy Birthday @LoveTinaTurner my amazing friend,” she wrote alongside a picture of the two sporting the same hairstyle. “We’ve been through a lot ‘magical one’. I will always love you, you give me strength, you are a force, a hurricane, a lightning strike, a legend, an icon, you are my hero, you are my friend.”

Fans also didn’t want to miss out on the chance to wish their favourite singer Happy Birthday, with many taking to Twitter to share their touching messages.

“Happy 80th Birthday to the queen of rock and roll, the queen of positive transformation, the queen of making a lotus from the mud. The one and only and simply the best #TinaTurner,” @mo_art_mo wrote.

“Happy 80th Birthday! You look fabulous and still have that beautiful smile!” @lynsys57 said.

“Happy Birthday unbelievable, amazing #TinaTurner! 80 seems to be the new 50! I have admired you since I was a little girl,” @SybilleKolar added.
