Fans of the show also paid their respects, with Twitter user @DeanMaisey writing, “It’s really tragic – Trevor Peacock, John Bluthal, Emma Chambers, Liz Smith, Roger Lloyd-Pack. Almost a Parish Council meeting in the sky. Crying face. Be proud of the comedy gold you all created.”
@LauraSpencer24 added, “One of our favourite characters of all time. We met him once on a train journey a few years back. Rewatching ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ with our children was one of my highlights of lockdown.”
And DavidCole86 wrote, “So sorry for your loss. Our family still re-watches Dibley fairly frequently and he was such a wonderful actor. The full monty routine alone was legendary.”
Peacock was best-known for his comedic role the BBC series, and appeared in nearly every episode between 1994 and 2015. Fans loved his character Jim’s cheeky innuendo and famous catchphrase “No, no, no, no”.
Peacock also made appearances in EastEnders, Jonathan Creek and the sitcom My Family. And he was a successful musician, writing a number of pop hits and appearing with the Beatles in the 1964 television special Around the Beatles.
Peacock is the fifth cast member from The Vicar of Dibley to pass away in recent years. Roger Lloyd-Pack, who played Owen Newitt, died in 2014, while Liz Smith, who played Letitia Cropley, died in 2016. Emma Chambers, who played Alice Tinker, and John Bluthal, who played Frank Pickle, both died in 2018.
