Just days after former Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo announced his terminal cancer diagnosis, his “guardian angel” girlfriend Tahnee Sims delivered a heartwarming tribute to her “fav Author”.

In an emotional interview with Carrie Bickmore, the 34-year-old actor and singer spoke candidly about the realities of his five-year-long battle against brain cancer, admitting that his biggest fear was how his girlfriend would cope following his death.

“You can only imagine how difficult it’s been for her,” he said.

“It’s something that I don’t want to think about. It just gets me a little bit emotional… because I know at some point something will happen, whether it’s, you know, a month from now or 10 years from now or 20 years.”

Sims has now taken to social media to show her support for her boyfriend and praise him for his accomplishments amid his ongoing brain cancer battle.

Taking to Instagram, Sims posted a photo of the pair smiling at the camera while she holds a copy of Ruffo’s newly released memoir, No Finish Line.

“Happy release day to my fav Author,” she captioned the post.

“Proud of you everyday, but watching you smash yet another goal whilst dealing with everything you have been dealt is inspiring beyond words. You are one of a kind.”

Fans and followers of Sims were instantly moved by the post, with many leaving messages of support and praise for the couple.

“You’re an incredible woman, I hope you know that. Staying strong for him when I’m sure at times you want to fall apart… it’s so admirable. Lots of love to you both. X.”

“So good to see Johnny on tv this morning, and a huge reminder that the cancer journey is tough and harrowing. We see his beautiful smile and don’t see the terrible struggles. Thank you for writing this book. Everyone loves you both! You are Australia’s cutest couple by far. Not many relationships can survive so much trauma. You are both inspiring. I can’t wait to read the book. Wishing you both so much love and happiness and special moments.”

“Congratulations @johnny_ruffo …I can’t wait to read this! So inspiring that you’ve written a book whilst dealing with everything with the strength & perseverance that you have. Truly amazing!!!”

“An inspiration to so many! Happy release day @johnny_ruffo thank you for being a beacon of hope to my mum on her own brain cancer journey. Keep the faith, always.”

Prior to his appearance on The Project, Ruffo shared that before learning of his diagnosis his primary focus in life was his singing career and Sims.

“There’s something about nearly dying that puts things in perspective for you… Up until that point, the only real things that had mattered in my life, in no particular order, were performing, recording music, acting, Tahnee, family and partying with friends,” he explained.

Since his shock diagnosis, Sims has been a constant pillar of support for her boyfriend, with Ruffo confessing in interviews he believes his girlfriend’s insistence that he go get a check-up at the hospital for his recurring migraines saved his life.

“We’ve been through so much together now. The longer we stay together, the stronger the bond,” Ruffo said.
