Television presenter Sylvia Jeffreys has opened up about her shock sacking from the Today show in late 2018 in a candid chat with TV Week, revealing it was “frustrating”.
The 34-year-old, who now co-hosts Today Extra alongside David Campbell, made the surprising announcement she was leaving the morning show in December 2018 following the exit of her brother-in-law Karl Stefanovic. Now almost two years later, Sylvia has broken her silence.
“It can be frustrating when things aren’t going to plan,” she told the publication. “But that’s life. You take the good with the bad.
“[David] puts up with me showing him baby videos every morning, and he does so with great enthusiasm. I couldn’t ask for a more generous co-host.”
Asked if she misses her mornings on Today, Sylvia replied with: “I actually don’t have to miss it that much, because so much news is still unfolding and breaking during our program because of the nature of the world we live in. I still get to be involved in a lot of that.”
Sylvia’s comments come just a week after she announced she’s pregnant with her second child with her husband Peter Stefanovic. The television presenter shareded the news on her social media page with a cute photo of son Oscar.
“When you find out you’re getting a best bud for life,” she wrote on Instagram alongside an adorable photo of Oscar smiling down at hubby Peter. “Oscar’s little brother due in April next year. We are so lucky.”
Friends and followers were quick to congratulate the happy couple, with former colleague Lisa Wilkinson one of the first to share in the joy. The 60-year-old took to Instagram to congratulate Sylvia and Peter, alongside a collection of photos of herself and the soon to be mother-of-two.
“So happy for my gorgeous friend @sylviajeffreys with the news that she and that handsome devil of a husband of hers @peter_stefanovic are adding bub number two to their beautiful brood. Congrats guys,” Lisa wrote.
Adding: “P.S. Just a few happy work memories here… (although I must say, looking back, it doesn’t look a lot like work!”
Meanwhile, A Current Affair presenter Tracy Grimshaw commented: “Oh congratulations Sylvia and @peter_stefanovic. Outstanding production.” And Sally Obermeder added: “Congrats! What beautiful news!”
