This year’s Emmy Awards saw a star-studded lineup of powerful actors and actresses walk the red carpet dressed in classic and fashionable outfits. However, some stood out above all others and we’re delighted to count our favourites among them.

Meryl Streep

The aptly named “chameleon” of Hollywood chose to attend the night in a bubblegum pink ensemble, complemented with off-white accessories that added a flair of elegance to her power-suit.

It’s a bold choice to wear a single colour, especially against the deep, rich red of the carpet, but a clever combination of brightly coloured glasses and light makeup weaves a youthful and vibrant look that is sure to inspire.

Jodie Foster

The star of True Detective: Night Country and winner of this year’s Lead Actress, Jodie Foster opted for simplicity with an asymmetrical gown, woven from a rich indigo that complemented the backdrop against which she stood.

Simple jewellery and an extra-thin gold belt to accentuate her silhouette made for a minimalistic, yet sophisticated look that served her well in the night to come. After all, that shiny Emmy Award certainly stood out in her bejewelled hands against her mono-colour dress. Talk about dressing for the win!

Catherine O’Hara

From contemporary works of comedy like Schitt’s Creek to classics like Beetlejuice, Catherine O’Hara has cemented herself in the Hollywood hall of fame with her legendary works, including her role as the strangely negligent mother in Home Alone and more.

Her look is no different to her exceptional quality of acting. Dressed in a beige underdress overlaid with a sparkling nude-illusion gown embellished with silver roses, O’Hara’s form-fitting outfit compliments her figure and remains modest and elegant. On a side note, her hair looks great — we’d like what she’s having!

Kathy Bates

Though her retirement announcement came as a shock to all of us, we were still elated to see Kathy Bates grace our screens at this year’s Emmy Awards.

Bates’ outfit this year definitely didn’t disappoint! A simple navy blue dress was brought to new heights by sparkling jewels that adorned the fabric, granting the impression of a star-studded night sky rife with falling stars — a clever nod to a poetic end of her remarkable five-decade career.

Reba McEntire

The multi-talented Reba McEntire stood out in the lineup of stars with an emerald two-piece suit, complemented by matching rings and lapel pins of stars. On anyone else, this could have been garish but only the Queen of Country could pull this off and bring both country and elegance to the red carpet.

As she said herself, “You know I might have been born just plain white trash, but Fancy was my name!”
