Samantha Armytage has released her first photos since her exit from Sunrise earlier this month, revealing how she’s settling into her new life.
On Monday, the 44-year-old posted a photo with husband Richard Lavender, 61, which shares a glimpse of her enjoying the “slow-living” she quit TV for.
The selfie shows the pair rugged up in their car and contained a sweet message to her mum, who Sam lost in November last year. “‘Edit your life frequently and ruthlessly. It’s your masterpiece after all.’ My mum. And I did. And this is what the next chapter looks like…” Sam captioned the image, including an umbrella and a dancing woman emoji at the end.
After eight years, the former Sunrise host officially bid farewell to morning television in a tearful live segment on March 11, in which she referred to the same quote and the next chapter of her life.
“My mother used to say to me, ‘edit your life frequently and ruthlessly, it’s your masterpiece after all’. And that’s precisely what I’m doing.” she said on Sunrise. “This is a chapter, it’s not the whole story, and I have a few days left to say goodbye to you all, for now. And I want to step out of this public world for a while and take some time and calm things down, enjoy a bit of slow living and spend some time with my precious family, my husband and [my dog] Banjo.”

Kylie Gillies, co-host of The Morning Show, commented on the sweet snap, saying “Next chapter looking mighty fine @sam_armytage xx.” While other fans shared sweet messages of support about her mum.
One fan said, “Your mum will be looking down on you both with a big smile.” While another commented, “I love that advice. I will be taking it myself. Your Mum had some very wise words for you!”
Sam is now calling Richard’s property at Bowral on the New South Wales Southern Highlands home, which explains their rugged-up appearance in the photo, as the region is just one area of NSW currently battling the severe wet weather.
According to The Daily Mail, Armytage also shared a number of photos to her Instagram Stories, which have since expired, documenting the affect of NSW’s historic downpour.
The stories showed a number of bowls on her kitchen bench and buckets on the floor, catching leaks from the ceiling of the couple’s property, with the caption, “Remember when there was… a drought.” Sam also shared a photo of her Labrador Banjo stuck inside due to the rain.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued an extensive list of severe weather and flood warnings for regions across NSW, including a weather warning for Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Illawarra, South Coast, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains, the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Tablelands and parts of the Hunter, Metropolitan, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains and South West Slopes Forecast Districts.
