Oh, baby! 2023 is starting to look like a great year for Rod Stewart as he will now be welcoming two grandchildren in the months to come.

The British rockstar’s son Liam Stewart, 28, whom he shares with ex-wife and Kiwi model Rachel Hunter, 53, has announced that he is expecting his first child with his partner Nicole Ann.

Taking to Instagram, the couple shared the beautiful news with a black and white video montage of their first sonogram, Liam holding a copy of their ultrasound, and Nicole showing off her growing baby bump.

“Mom + Dad | Baby Boy joins us in May,” Nicole captioned the post.

Members of the Stewart family were equally as excited to welcome yet another baby boy into the family, leaving congratulatory messages on Nicole’s post.

“Love you guys so exciteeddd the best Mum and Dad ever !!! I can’t wait !! finally I get to tell everyone,” Liam’s mum wrote.

“(Ugly crying) love you guys so happy for you two,” his sister Ruby said

“Love you guys,” his other sister Renee added.

Stewart’s eldest daughter Kimberly also left a comment, saying “the best. Love you both,” and his wife Penny Lancaster enthusiastically added: “Beautiful, I can’t help watching it over and over again.”

Liam’s happy news comes weeks after his sister Ruby announced her own pregnancy.

Earlier this month, Ruby took to social media to post a video of her gender reveal party in which their father had the honour of revealing his future grandchild’s gender.

After opening up a piece of paper in front of the family, the 77-year-old pumped his fist in the air as he excitedly declared, “it’s a boy”.

Stewart will no doubt have plenty of time to spend with his two new grandchildren after he recently announced that he wants to retire from “rock ‘n’ roll touring”, revealing that he wants “to do something new”.

The 77-year-old made the bombshell revelation during a recent interview with the Daily Record where he announced that although he wants to move away from touring he is not planning on retiring entirely anytime soon.

“Next year will be the end of my rock ‘n’ roll touring. I want to do something different. It feels like an end of an era,” he said.

“All things must come to an end.

“I’m not retiring and I still love singing, I just want to do something new. I might do a few folk clubs playing guitar. Just be different.”

Stewart spoke candidly about how performing in the “big tours” had lost its appeal for the Maggie May hitmaker as it keeps him away from his children.

“I don’t want to do the big tours anymore, especially in America. It takes me away from my kids for so long,” he explained.

“It used to be OK because it was fun and games. It is still fun and games but I miss my kids so much.

“I’ve got one more year doing big gigs in South America, Australia, a Las Vegas residency, some more in England and a couple in Edinburgh.

“But I’m not retiring – I just want to move on.”
