Hollywood actor Richard Gere has become a father again at 69 after his wife Alejandra Silva, 35, gave birth to a baby boy, according to reports.

Richard and Alejandra welcomed their son into the world late last week in New York, according to Spanish magazine Hola!.

The newborn boy is the happy couple’s first child together, after they exchanged vows in an Indian-inspired ceremony at Gere’s ranch outside of New York back in April 2018. Richard shares a 19-year-old son Homer with ex-wife Carey Lowell, while Alejandra has a six-year-old son named Albert from a previous marriage.

The loved-up couple revealed they were expecting their first child together back in September. Taking to Instagram, at the time, Alejandra shared a beautiful photo of the Dalai Lama placing his hands on her pregnant belly and blessing their baby.

“A very special moment just a few minutes ago…Getting blessings for our precious to come…we couldn’t announce it before telling HH Dalai Lama,” the Spanish activist wrote.

The exciting news come after the Pretty Woman star said in an exclusive interview with Hello Magazine! he’s the “happiest man in the universe” after marrying his wife.

“I’m the happiest man in the universe. How could I not be?” Richard revealed in June last year.

“I’m married to a beautiful woman who is smart, sensitive, committed to helping people, who’s fun, patient, who knows how to forgive, who’s a great cook — and who makes the best salads in the world!”

The loved-up couple met in Italy in 2014 when the actor stayed at a hotel owned by Silva’s family.

In the couple’s interview with Hello! Alejandra revealed that Richard wooed her the old-fashioned way and sent her flowers until she agreed to date him. As if that wasn’t romantic enough, he also regularly writes songs for her.

“I feel like I’m in a true fairytale,” she told the magazine. “Without a doubt, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world.”

Speaking about the first time they met, she added: “A friend introduced us, we looked at each other and felt a very strong connection. We couldn’t stop looking at each other all night, and since then we haven’t been apart.”

Gere was previously married to American model Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995 and actress Carole Lowell from 2002 to 2016.

The increasing trend of having babies later in life is a big change to previous generations. In the 1920s, the most common ages to have babies were between 20 and 29, and that remained the same in until the ’80s, when working women started having babies later in life.
