Phil Collins’ daughter celebrates father’s 72nd birthday with sweet tribute

Phil Collins’ daughter, Lily Collins, has marked her father’s 72nd birthday in the sweetest way, showing fans just how much of an inspiration he has been to her throughout the years.

The Emily in Paris star took to Instagram on Monday, January 30, to share a series of throwback photos of herself and the Genesis drummer in their best twinning moments.

“Like father, like daughter,” the actress, 33, captioned her post.

“Thank you for being a constant inspiration, constant laugh, and constant legend. I love you so much and am celebrating you big time today!…”

Lily led her birthday tribute with a photo of her dad fully dressed in a bathtub and followed it up with a shot of herself recreating the snap in a deep blue evening gown.

The Netflix actress then shared a series of photos hinting that her dad has been her fashion inspiration on many occasions, as the duo are snapped wearing similar outfits.

Many of Lily’s fans flooded the comment section of her post to share that they had no idea she was related to the You’ll Be In My Heart singer.

“Please don’t tell me I’m the only one that has no idea that he was your dad? Happy birthday Phil!”

“PHIL COLLINS IS YOUR DAD?! This made my month.”

“I was today years old when I found that Phil Colin’s is lily Colin’s dad!!!”

However, several other fans did leave sweet messages for the Grammy-winning musician.

Now at 72 years old, the prog-rock hitmaker has started to slow things down.

Collins bid fans farewell recently as he performed his last ever show with Genisis in March 2022, joking that it was time he and his bandmates needed to “get real jobs”.

The musical mastermind behind Disney’s Tarzan soundtrack performed the entirety of his final concert seated, determined to keep the show going, despite battling debilitating nerve damage that affects both his hands and back. 

Genisis’ The Last Domino? Tour comes after the band’s 14-year live performance hiatus, which had also been postponed because of the pandemic.

Ahead of the tour, Collins had set the record straight, saying that this would be the last tour for Genisis. 

“This English and American tour, that will be enough for me,” he confessed during an interview.
