Olympic gold medalist Sally Pearson has welcomed her first child with husband of 10 years Kieran Pearson. The happy couple welcomed a daughter just yesterday and revealed they have named her Ruby Elizabeth Pearson.
Sally, 33, shared a photograph of herself and her high school sweetheart husband in hospital, seemingly just moments after Ruby’s birth, as the new mum cradled her bundle of joy on her chest. Alongside the image she simply wrote: “08.07.2020 Ruby Elizabeth Pearson.”
While mum and dad were dressed in hospital scrubs and hair caps, baby Ruby was wearing a sweet knitted hat and wrapped in a brightly-coloured striped hospital blanket.

Lisa Wilkinson commented: “Such beautiful news Sally. Huge congrats to all three of you. And well done. Now the fun really begins! Enjoy it all!!” Fellow Olympian Anna Meares wrote: “Congratulations Sally and Kieran! Happy birthday Ruby. Great work mumma x”
Pearson shared regular updates on social media throughout her pregnancy, and showed off her blossoming baby bump in several beach snaps. Alongside one photo, which showed the changes to her body over the first 18 weeks of pregnancy, she wrote: “I have been an athlete since I was 4 years old and only had eyes to be the best in the world, now I only have one thing on my mind, this amazing human that my husband and I are going to bring to this world.
“People always talk about the joy and excitement they get when expecting a baby, I don’t think you can truly understand this feeling until it happens to you. It’s been 18 weeks and I am slowly feeling and seeing the changes my body is going through.”

The Queensland-born hurdler also announced her pregnancy on social media back in January, just five months after she retired from professional athletics. At the time she said: “My husband Kieran and I are pleased to announce that we are expecting our first child.
“To start the next chapter of our lives with such joy and love is more than we could’ve ever hoped for. We are looking forward to meeting our little one in July this year, just before the Tokyo Olympics start!! Gotta start them young.”
