Kirk Douglas is 103! Catherine Zeta-Jones leads sweet tributes to Spartacus star

He is one of the biggest names in Hollywood, having starred in iconic movies such as Spartacus, Paths of Glory and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Kirk Douglas marked another milestone on Monday as he celebrated his birthday.

The centenarian turned 103 yesterday, making him one of the last surviving stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age, and family members marked the momentous occasion by sharing sweet tributes to the Oscar winner on social media.

Leading the tributes was his daughter-in-law Catherine Zeta-Jones who shared a sweet image of herself with Kirk on Instagram, which showed the icon sitting on her knee with his arm wrapped around her.

“This guy on my knee, is 103!!!!! Happy Birthday Pappy!!! I love you with all my heart,” she wrote alongside the image.

Kirk’s son, Michael Douglas, also shared two public tributes to his father in celebration of his birthday yesterday, complete with what appears to be a never-before-seen recent photo of the pair.

“12.9.2019 what a great day!” the 75-year-old wrote. “Thank you to the HFPA for the @GoldenGlobes nomination, and for making my Dad proud on his 103rd birthday!”

The photograph alongside Michael’s caption showed the actors seated side by side, with the Fatal Attraction star placing his arm around his father’s shoulders while Kirk, 103, clutches a walking stick in both hands. The Spartacus star also appears to be sporting a much longer haircut than usual, with his white locks pushed backwards.

Michael’s other post included a photograph of himself with his father at what appears to be a star-studded event as he planted a sweet kiss on his forehead. He wrote: “Happy birthday Dad! You are a living legend and your entire family sends you all the love in their hearts! #KirkDouglas #103″

Meanwhile Kirk’s grandson Cameron Morrell Douglas shared a series of unseen family photos, showing his grandfather celebrating his special day alongside his nearest and dearest at what appeared to be his birthday party.

Cameron – who is Michael’s eldest son from his first marriage to Diandra Luker – wrote on Instagram: “Happy Birthday Pappy…you are a gift to the world; a guiding light and source of inspiration to me. I Love you.”

One image shared by Cameron showed him crouching beside Kirk, who was seated in an armchair wearing a vibrant red jumper. Another showed Kirk and wife Anne Buydens, who is 100 years old, with their children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren gathered around them.
