Kevin Bacon was chased and repeatedly stung by a swarm of bees during a family hike with his daughter.
The Footloose and Mystic River actor, 67, was targeted by the insects while out with his girl Sosie Bacon and her partner Scoot McNairy, with the star later turning the painful ordeal into a comedy sketch for Instagram.
Bacon has shared the story in a video posted to social media, recounting how the hike descended into chaos after the group spotted a beehive along the trail.
Kevin said: “So I went for a hike the other day with Sosie and Scoot. Scoot was in the front, Sosie was in the middle, and I was holding up the rear.”
He continued: “Scoot points out to the left that there’s a beehive over there. Sosie says, ‘Dad, hey, there’s a beehive. Watch out’.”
Despite trying to avoid the hive, Kevin joked the insects appeared to target him specifically.
He said: “So these bees, they must not have liked my work or something because they left the two of them alone, and they went full on after me: ‘Let’s attack KB.’
“Bees stinging me everywhere, including underneath my shirt.”
The actor, whose career spans more than four decades, added Sosie resisted the temptation to film the incident as it unfolded, instead recreating the moment afterwards for social media.
Kevin said: “Now, it was very nice of my daughter to not take out her phone and start videoing this epic bee sting dance that I was doing. But I asked her if there was any way that she could recreate it from memory.”
The Instagram video then cut to Sosie re-enacting the scene, wildly swinging her hat and pulling off her jumper while pretending to fend off imaginary bees.
“There’s bees in there,” Sosie said during the performance.
Kevin captioned the video: “The bees attack KB by @sosiebacon.”
Kyra later joined in the joke in the comments section.
She said: “Sooooo gooood!”
Sosie replied: “It was nothing more nothing less than that very dance.”
The incident comes as Bacon and his actress wife Kyra Sedgwick, 60, prepare for the release of Family Movie, the forthcoming comedy-horror project starring the couple alongside their children, Travis Bacon, 36, and Sosie, 34.
Their family collaboration has already attracted attention following its premiere at SXSW, while Kevin has also remained a fixture of pop culture thanks to renewed interest in classics including Apollo 13, A Few Good Men and the enduring phenomenon of the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” game.
The couple first met while filming the television movie Lemon Sky in 1987 and married the following year.
Their relationship has long been viewed as one of Hollywood’s more enduring marriages, with the pair frequently appearing together on-screen and on social media.
According to the SXSW synopsis, Family Movie follows the Smith family as they attempt to make a low-budget horror film before discovering a real corpse on set.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in March, Kevin said: “The whole time we were shooting, we kept going, ‘God, this is just so great. This is so great.'”
He added: “When we were in prep and as soon as we were all four of us together on site, it was better than I could have imagined.”
