John Travolta embraces baldness as he ‘ditches wig’ for dramatic new look

He’s known for his seemingly thick and luscious hair at public events, but Grease star John Travolta has now finally embraced a more natural look as he showed of his completely bald head online.

It’s long been rumoured that the 64-year-old actor is going bald, with many news outlets claiming he has been choosing to hide the evidence with thicker wigs whenever he’s out in front of the cameras.

While he has never confirmed the claims, Travolta has now revealed a surprising new look in a photo alongside his daughter Ella, as he wished his fans Happy New Year on Instagram.

He simply wrote: “I hope everyone had a great New Year!”

Instead of his usual thick locks, Travolta appears in the image with the slightest hint of scattered grey stubble on his head.

Fans have since praised the star’s bravery in sharing the selfie, with one commenting: “Love it,” while another added: “It’s about time! Love this and love you!”

Meanwhile one wrote: “Best look ever! very debonair!”

It comes amid claims he has been wearing wigs for years. In fact, in 2015 a Reddit user famously caught a picture of the actor at a Florida gym while showing off very thinning hair for the first time.

Bizarrely, Travolta then appeared just months later at a press junket with a full head of hair – sparking fresh rumours he had either opted for a wig or even a hair transplant.

While this is not the first time fans have seen him bald – as he previously shaved his head for his role in 2010’s From Paris With Love – it’s the first time he’s gone au natural in public or on social media.

Travolta is in good company and many of the world’s biggest stars have embraced a bald look in later years, from Bruce Willis and Sean Connery, to Patrick Stewart and Jason Statham.
