John Travolta and his youngest son, Ben, have added an adorable new addition to their family after adopting the puppy featured in the touching tribute to the late Betty White during this year’s Oscars.

The rescue puppy, named ‘Mac N Cheese’, was lucky enough to take the stage alongside Jaime Lee Curtis as part of a special tribute to Betty White’s legacy as a devoted animal rights activist.

Non-for-profit animal shelter organisation, Paw Works, posted to social media on Monday, March 28, announcing that little Mac N Cheese was available for adoption as they shared a gorgeous image of the little dog cuddled up to Curtis backstage.

“Did you catch our little MacNCheese sharing the big stage with the incredible @curtisleejamie highlighting the great and beloved Betty White on tonight’s @theacademy awards?” the post wrote.

But before Mac N Cheese could receive what would have likely been an abundance of eager interest in his adoption, Travolta posted a photo to social media announcing that he and his son had already secured their place as the little pup’s new family.

“Ben adopted this dog from last nights Oscar tribute to Betty White. Thank you @curtisleejamie & @pawworks,” Travolta captioned the post.

Curtis took to Instagram to thank the father-son duo, describing the news as “a magical ending” to her special tribute to the late White on Monday night.

“A MAGICAL ending to the story from last night. At the Oscars I reconnected with my friend, John Travolta. @johntravolta We starred together in the movie PERFECT back in 1984,” Curtis wrote.

“I had already left the Dolby theatre last night after honoring Betty White and was on my way home when someone texted me a photo of John holding little mac & cheese in the green room before his presentation of the best actor Oscar.

“I thought it was so beautiful to see him with her and then today I found out that he and his son, Ben, have adopted beautiful little mac & cheese and are taking her home today.”

Curtis went on to thank a number of dedicated animal activists and rescue organisations in the post, describing their mission as “one of life’s most important actions”.

“It is an emotional end and a perfect tribute to Betty White and it shines a light and AMPLIFIES the message that heroes who, like Betty, and Chad from @pawworks and Nancy from @perfect_pet_rescue and the team at @maedayrescue and the hundreds of thousands of other rescues, who love and support ANIMALS, that rescuing animals and offering them shelter from the storm of life and a warm and loving home is one of life’s most important actions we humans can take! #adoptdontshop,” she wrote.

Fans were overwhelmed by the pair’s touching tributes to the late Golden Girls icon, taking to social media to comment with messages of love and appreciation for Curtis and Travolta’s incredible efforts to support animals in need.

“How beautiful thank you for sharing and reminding me that the stars we see on the big screen have big beautiful hearts and are more human than we realize. Love me some Curtis and Travolta!” one fan wrote.

“This made me cry! What a great ending to the story of Mac & Cheese’s search for a forever family!” another commented.
