Hugh Jackman never shies away from declaring his love for wife Deborra-Lee Furness, and the Aussie star was at it again on Monday as he penned a gushing tribute in honour of her 65th birthday.

The 52-year-old actor shared the message on social media alongside a sweet picture of Deborra-Lee blowing out candles on a slice of cake as Hugh watched on adoringly.

“Happy birthday to my incredible wife,” Hugh wrote. “Your courage, wit, open heartedness, loyalty, creativity, joie de vivre, cheekiness and spontaneity inspire me every day. I love you so much more than any caption can convey.”

The showbiz couple met in 1995 on the set of Australian drama Corelli and tied the knot just one year later on April 11, 1996. Hugh and Deborra-Lee share two children: Oscar, 20, and Ava, 15.

Many of Hugh’s fans responded to the post and sent Deborra-Lee their best wishes. One wrote: “Happy birthday. Hope you have an amazing day.” Another commented: “His declaration of love is very sweet.”

Last year, during his string of live shows throughout Australia, the X-Men actor gushed about Deborra-Lee on stage as he told fans that spending his life with the actress was one of the few things he has “known for sure” throughout his life.

“I knew very early on in our relationship we were going to spend the rest of our lives together. I could feel it,” he told the crowd in Brisbane at the time, before revealing that he almost didn’t make the cut as Wolverine in X-Men.

“I went home to Deb and started whinging about everything … And she listened to me very patiently for about an hour and finally she just said, ‘Listen, I think you have just got to trust yourself. You are worrying way too much about what everything else is thinking. Just go back to the character, focus on that, trust your instinct. You’ve got this.’

“And to me that is love. Someone who believes in you when you don’t really believe in yourself. This whole [live] show is dedicated to Deb and the kids.”
