Helen Mirren’s rather frugal habit when it comes to her hair revealed

She may be a Hollywood star, but Helen Mirren has revealed she’s pretty hands on when it comes to her beauty routine.

During a segment on British daytime talk show This Morning on Friday, the Oscar-winning actress, 73, confessed that she doesn’t always make trips to the hair salon, instead she often cuts her hair over the kitchen sink.

“I said to my brilliant hair guy here, Stefan, ‘The cut I have right now, Stefan, is something that I did with the kitchen scissors about a week ago in my kitchen. So you know, maybe you could clean it up a bit for me?’ So yes, I do cut my own hair,” she said, according to The Daily Mail.

Speaking about beauty, Mirren then added: “I have an issue with the word ‘beauty’. Because we’re not all beautiful, I’m not beautiful and I recognize that fact. Sometimes I clean up nice with a lot of help… So I want a new word instead of ‘beautiful’. I think ‘being’ is a good word.”

Mirren, who has sported short locks for many years now, previously told Redbook in 2014 that she cuts her own hair for convenience.

“I can’t handle going to the hairdresser every six weeks, so I only go about once a year,” Mirren told the publication. “In between, I get out the scissors and do something, usually rather disastrously. Sometimes I’ll even chop my hair the morning of a big red-carpet event.”

Mirren’s comments come just a month after she stepped out in a bold power suit and killer heels for the memorial service of German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. However, it was her stylish new hair do that really turned heads as she debuted a classy white bob.

The actress has made a name for herself as a fashion icon over the years and her latest outfit didn’t disappoint, with the black ensemble showing off her incredible figure and confident personality.

Mirren looked sensational in a pair of black pants, a tailored jacket and a high-neck white shirt for her appearance at the event at Grand Palais in Paris, France.

The Queen star complimented her look with a bright red lip and a swipe of blush to her cheeks, while the added to the dramatics of the outfit with dark black eyeliner.
