In news that’s sure to delight the original generation of Home and Away fans, Hollywood star Isla Fisher may be returning to Summer Bay, two decades after leaving the long-running Aussie soap opera.

Flame-haired Fisher, who played Shannon Reed on the tv series from 1994 to 1997, and is now a successful name in Tinsel Town, admitted to Yahoo Lifestyle that she thought about potentially returning to Summer Bay and even considered making a cameo appearance.

“I’ve thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious?’ But then the reality of it is, obviously, you have to give lots of notice and then it gets written in and then you have to commit,” Fisher, 45, said.

Despite teasing a return appearance on Home and Away, Fisher hasn’t always looked back favourably on her time on the show.

In a previous interview with Stylist magazine, the actress said she hadn’t had the greatest experience on set.

“I learnt a lot, but I was very exhausted because the hours that they work you are very, very long and you’re away from your family and you’re expected, after shooting incredibly long days, to work at the weekend doing photoshoots for magazines,” she told the publication.

Fisher said she remembers just being “exhausted and sleeping whenever” she could.

News.com.au also reports that it may be difficult for the mother of three to return to the hit tv show anytime soon, given that her and her husband, Baron Cohen, have reportedly fled Sydney to live in Western Australia back in September.

The family had moved to West Perth to “escape” Sydney’s then lockdown, The Age reported at the time.

Nonetheless, in the 24 years since leaving the iconic Australian soap opera, Fisher has carved out a successful Hollywood career, scoring roles in major films like Confessions of a Shopaholic, Now You See Me and The Great Gatsby.
