Bindi Irwin welcomes baby girl! Name offers sweet nod to late dad Steve
Bindi Irwin and her husband Chandler Powell welcomed their first child into the world on Thursday, March 25, who they’ve named Grace Warrior Irwin Powell.
Bindi, 22, shared the news on Instagram on Friday night, revealing the special meaning behind the adorable moniker. Bindi explained that the name Grace came from her great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s. She also revealed Grace’s middle name ‘Warrior Irwin’ was a tribute to her late dad Steve, who sadly passed away in 2006 after a freak accident with a stingray.
Posting a precious photo of baby Grace, Bindi wrote: “Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter. Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light.
“Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad. There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”
Bindi’s younger brother Robert also shared the exciting news on Instagram, writing: “Let the uncle adventures begin! Love you so much, Grace. This little one picked the two best parents in the entire world. The most incredible, caring and strong Mum… and the funnest, coolest and kindest Dad. Love you three so much – I can’t wait for this exciting journey ahead!”
