‘We can’t wait’: Bindi Irwin and husband Chandler reveal baby’s gender

Bindi Irwin has revealed the gender of her first child with husband Chandler Powell, announcing they’re expecting a “beautiful baby girl”

The 22-year-old shared the happy news on social media on Tuesday night alongside a cute photo of the couple embracing a tortoise. In the picture, Chandler can also be seen holding up a large ultrasound scan of their little girl.

“Baby girl, you are our world,” Bindi captioned the post. “Our beautiful daughter is now about the same size as a hatchling Aldabra tortoise and is as healthy as can be. We can’t wait for her arrival next year.”

Fans of the couple congratulated them on the exciting news, with one writing: “Aww, congratulations on a little girl. Your dad would be so excited.”

“Congratulations! The next generation of wildlife warriors begins,” another added. While a third wrote: “This is how you do a gender reveal. Congratulations, I adore all three of you.”

Some fans even called for the baby girl to be named after Bindi’s late father Steve, with one suggesting: “Name her Stevie!” While others even attempted to guess the baby’s name, with another adding: “I’d like to guess a possible name. Stephanie.”

Earlier this month, the 22-year-old mum-to-be opened up about the emotional moment she discovered she was going to be a mother, and revealed how she broke the news to her American husband of six months.

“Reflecting on when we found out that we are going to be parents,” Bindi wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. “Discovering that I was going to become a mother will forever be a moment where time stood still. I took a test and ran into the kitchen where Chandler was making us tea.

“He didn’t hear me come in so I speechlessly watched him pouring the water into my most loved hedgehog mug. This news would change the course of our future in the best way. I started crying tears of pure joy and told my sweetheart husband that my test was positive.

“We were beaming while our adorable puppy Piggy sat on our feet wondering what was going on. It reminded me of just how perceptive animals are. We sat together with tea talking about the future and how we were going to share such wonderful, life changing news with the people that we love. In that short span of time the gorgeous baby I’m carrying became the most important part of our lives.”
