Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria have revealed the gender of their fifth child together, a baby girl, six months after the 35-year-old confirmed she had suffered a miscarriage.

In a heartwarming video, shared to Hilaria’s Instagram page on Saturday, the happy couple had their children take part in the gender reveal.

The pair are already parents to daughter Carmen, six, son Rafael, four, son Leonardo, three, and son Romeo, 16 months, while Alec also has 22-year-old daughter, Ireland, from his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger.

“Our little reveal. We are so excited!” Alec’s wife captioned the post. In the video, the kids were instructed to pick up baby dolls wrapped in white swaddle blankets.

“It’s a girl,” Carmen can be heard excitedly saying after she unwraps her doll and realises it’s wearing pink.

Many fans were quick to congratulate the family, with one writing: “Tears!!! So beautiful. Congratulations Hilaria your family is beyond.” Another added: “Omg this is so sweet!!!! So happy for you guys.” While a third wrote: “That was AMAZING!!!! So Excited for the whole family.”

The It’s Complicated star, 61, and Hilaria revealed last month that they were expecting a fifth child. “It is still very early… but we have learned that there is a little person inside of me,” Hilaria wrote on social media at the time.

“The sound of this strong heart makes me so happy – especially because of the loss we experienced in the spring. We want to share this news as we are excited and don’t want to hide the pregnancy. These first few months are tough with exhaustion and nausea… and I don’t want to have to pretend that I feel ok.”

Earlier this year, the mother-of-four (soon to be five!) revealed on social media that she had suffered a miscarriage. At the time, she shared an image of herself standing in front of a mirror in her underwear, showing off a tiny baby bump, as she explained that she wanted to stick to her word, having previously promised that she would keep her fans updated on every stage of her pregnancy, should she fall pregnant again.

“I want to share with you that I am most likely experiencing a miscarriage,” she wrote. “I always promised myself that if I were to get pregnant again, I would share the news with you guys pretty early, even if that means suffering a public loss.”

Hilaria added: “I don’t want to keep this from you, just because it isn’t as positive and shiny as the rest. I think it’s important to show the truth…because my job is to help people by being real and open.

“Furthermore, I have no shame or embarrassment with this experience. I want to be a part of the effort to normalize (sic) miscarriage and remove the stigma from it.”

She concluded the lengthy post by thanking her doctor and husband, as well as her four young children.

The increasing trend of having babies later in life is a big change to previous generations. In the 1920s, the most common ages to have babies were between 20 and 29, and that remained the same in until the ’80s, when working women started having babies later in life.
