Wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin has provided fans with a welcome update about her health following emergency surgery that forced her to miss the annual Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas.

The 26-year-old daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin took to social media shortly after her operation, revealing she had undergone multiple procedures during the emergency intervention.

“Hey guys, Bindi here. I just wanted to thank you so much for your incredible well wishes. I just got out of surgery about an hour ago,” she began.

“I had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed and they kindly stitched up my hernia as well.”

Bindi went on to express heartfelt appreciation for the medical team and the outpouring of support from fans.

“Thank you guys for your kind words, for your support,” she said.

“I’m sorry if I’m a little out of it in this video, but I just wanted you to know that I’m on the road to recovery one step at a time and I am so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family.”

Bindi’s update was met with an outpouring of support online. Fans flooded the comments section with messages of encouragement and admiration.

“Always inspired and in awe of your strength and bravery! Love you sweet Bindi, sending you love and hugs!” one commented.

“Love you so much. Thinking of you and sending you all our hugs and kisses my girl.”

“Praying for you Bindi! So very grateful for you & always inspired by your strength. You are amazing!” another wrote.

“Wishing you a speedy recovery.”

Just a day earlier, Bindi had shared her excitement about attending the Steve Irwin Gala—a signature event held in memory of her late father. She had flown to Las Vegas determined to be part of the celebration, but her condition quickly worsened.

Her brother, Robert Irwin, 21, explained what happened in an interview with People magazine.

“She came to Las Vegas and was ready to come to the gala, put on a brave face in a lot of discomfort and a lot of pain and said, ‘Nope, I’m just going to tough it out, I’m going to go for it’,” he told the publication.

“But the surgeon said, ‘No, your appendix is going. That thing’s gotta come out.’ Health has to come first.”

Terri Irwin, 60, also missed the event to remain by her daughter’s side during the medical emergency.

“She’s going to be OK, but surgery – out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,” Robert added.

“She’s just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes. Health is so important – it really is.

“Bindi has become an incredible advocate for women’s health, particularly, and I think it’s really important to prioritise getting help.”

Though missing the gala was deeply disappointing for her, Robert expressed confidence in his sister’s strength and resilience.

“She’s very sad. She’s devastated that she and mum can’t be here, but I know she’ll make a speedy recovery,” Robert said.
