Are you Australia’s Funniest Boomer? Here’s your chance to prove it!

Are you a known jokester? Do you always have your friends and family in hysterics? Is there a funny person in your life who deserves a bigger audience?

Well, whether you were the class clown growing up or if you honed your razor sharp wit later on, you can now show off your comedic talents and win big at the same time. The search for Australia’s Funniest Boomer is now on!

Here at Starts at 60, we’re holding a competition to find the funniest Australian aged 58+. The competition is a celebration of the timeless humour and the wit of today’s over-60s and aims to remind everyone that this trailblazing generation is way funnier than those that followed.

The competition provides a stage for witty, wise, and wonderfully hilarious over-60s across the country to showcase their comedic talent. No sparkling story or daggy dad joke will be left untouched, so make sure to dust off your favourite jokes, stories, and one-liners. Originality is key!

To enter, all you need to do is submit a short two-minute video here showcasing your comedic talents.

All shortlisted entries will be published on the Starts at 60 website, where the general public will be able to vote for a “People’s Choice” finalist. Two more finalists will be chosen by Starts at 60’s panel of judges.

All three finalists will be flown to Brisbane for the inaugural Starts at 60 Comedy Festival in September 2024, where they’ll battle it out for the title of Australia’s Funniest Boomer.

With special comedic guests (to be announced) and an enthusiastic audience, the event promises to be an evening of hilarity, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments. The festival will be a celebration of laughter, community, and the spirit of entertainment.

At the end of the night, the audience and the esteemed judging panel will crown the winner, who will win a mini-suite cabin on a P&O cruise from Sydney on 11 April 2025 — along with the opportunity to be Starts at 60’s resident comedian.
