A seemingly ordinary couple has managed to capture the attention of millions with their offbeat bedtime routine.
Their unconventional sleep routine, which entails swapping sides of the bed each night, has not only caught the attention of social media users worldwide but has also led to a spirited debate about the unusual arrangement.
It all began when home improvement guru Angelina Murphy took to TikTok to share her latest video with her legion of followers. Instead of sharing some home improvement tips, Murphy surprised viewers after sharing that she and her husband switch sides of the bed each night.
“Okay I really need to know if we are alone in this— do you randomly pick which side of the bed you are going to sleep on or do you sleep on the same side every single night?” Murphy asked in the video’s caption.
During the video, which has amassed over a million views, Murhpy explained how her bedtime arrangement worked.
“We do not have a regular side of the bed that we sleep on,” she said.
“Last night I slept on that side and then the night before – for like two or three nights in a row – I slept on this side.
“It’s never discussed we just randomly pick a side when we go to sleep and whenever this has come up in conversation people act like that is the craziest thing they’ve ever heard.”

Within hours, the post garnered a frenzy of reactions, many curious about the arrangement while others were outright stunned.
“This is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard,” one user wrote.
“What about your nightstands? Like you just Willy nilly have your stuff everywhere?”
“But what about your side table things?!! Your pillow!!?? Im confused how this is a thing.”
“That is absolute anarchy,” another wrote in response.
“I think I’m even more surprised that you found each other and are both okay with this.”
“I hope you both get the help you need.”
“You mean to tell me you just go through life every day not knowing what side of the bed you’re sleeping on that night?! WHAT?!”
While many criticised the couple’s nightly swap, sociology professor Pepper Schwartz told Insider that the arrangement could potentially work out for the best.
“I think that they’re freed from a kind of possessiveness about order that most of us have, and it makes their life a lot more flexible,” Schwartz said.
“The fact that these people have never decided that, ‘OK, this is a way we order our lives together’, makes people nervous because it kind of questions the whole way everybody creates a couple life.”
